Teaching Module of Mathematical Methods in Reliability Engineering

2018
the aim of this paper is to suggest one of the models which can be used for a structural function in education of subject of the reliability theory. Suggested model can be used in human reliability as a mathematical representation of analyzed system with respect to the human factor based on the structure function and design of methods for mathematical description of structure function in orthogonal form. The system is described using Boolean function which can be completely or incompletely defined. This function describes the logical linking of elements in the system but does not allow to reveal the reliability of the system, i.e. the probability that the system performs its functions within a defined time, assuming it worked at the beginning. Therefore, it is important to move from the logical form through the orthogonal to ultimately the probable form. Orthogonalization is very important for processing structure function in Reliability Engineering. It assumes independent events and can be simply moved to a probable form. Therefore, the orthogonalization of disjunctive normal form considered in this paper is based on the algorithm of disjunctive expansion.
