Effect of Nozzle Structural Design on the Operation of the Ejector Stage with a Conical Mixing Chamber

1972
Abstract : The optimum configuration of a supersonic propelling nozzle for an air driven two stage ejector is selected experimentally. The nozzles tested were of the conical type with inlets and outlets of various design and with various lengths of the cylindrical portion of the throat. Nozzles with various expansion ratios were also tested. The nozzles were placed in the plane of the inlet section, along the axis, of a 5 degree conical mixing chamber (of the first stage). An analysis of the results indicated that an underexpanded mode of operation is optimum for the ejector nozzle. (Author)
