Cardenolide glycosides from Gomphocarpus sinaicus

1995
Abstract Two new cardenolide glycosides, one with a doubly-linked sugar, 15β-hydroxy-5,6-dehydrocalotropin and the other with a singly linked sugar, coroglaucigenin-3-(6-deoxy-β- d -allopyranoside)-19-acetate, were isolated from the chloroform extract of the stems of Gomphocarpus sinaicus . Two other known cardenolides, were also isolated and identified as 5,6-dehydrocalotropagenin and 16α-hydroxy-5,6-dehydrocalotropin. These compounds were isolated for the first time from G. sinaicus . Their identification was confirmed by 400 MHz 1 H and 13 CNMR, and EI mass spectral analysis.
