Российский генератор стронций-82/рубидий-82

Strontium-82/Rubidium-82 generator has been designed and fabricated by the Institute for Nuclear Research of Russian Academy of Science (INR RAN). It is for the first time on Eurasia continent that all stages of generator manufacturing and loading were carried out in Russia: 1) regular production of starting material strontium-82 (INR RAN); 2) chemical recovery of strontium-82 from irradiated targets in (Institute of physics and power engineering, Obninsk); 3) assembling and loading (Medradiopreparat Co., Moscow). It is mother-daughter type generator. The generator demonstrated high efficiency, reliability and simplicity in operation. Nine generators of different strontium-82 activity have been manufactured and loaded. All generators were used for laboratory and pre-clinic tests of diagnostic preparation "Rubidium-82 chloride, isotonic" (eluate from the generator). Laboratory tests showed that sterility, apirogenicity and chemical purity of the diagnostic preparation follow all international requirements for the preparation of this type. Pre-clinic investigations have been carried out at CRIRRI (St.-Petersburg). It was shown that the generator makes it possible to obtain high quality image of myocardium and that joint use of the generator and PET is very effective for diagnostics of myocardial perfusion. The eluate from the generator was recommended for clinical investigations of cardiac patients as a PET diagnostic preparation. It was shown that the generator is very perspective for PET investigations of different inner organs (brain, stomach, kidney, lever, spleen and lung).
