CD16highCD62Ldim neutrophils induce nerve mediated airway hyperreactivity

2020
Inflammatory cells, such as neutrophils, eosinophils and mast cells are found in the airways and lungs of asthmatic patients. Generally, eosinophils and mast cells have been given more attention in allergic asthma than neutrophils. Eosinophils and mast cells are known to contribute to chronic inflammation, airway obstruction and hyperresponsiveness. The neutrophils have been easy to overlook, as they are present in the lung at all times, even in non-symptomatic asthmatic patients.
