In-depth analysis by using the new advanced and integrated traffic accident database linked to permanent disability and trauma registry data in Japan

2011
Both permanent disability data and trauma registration data in Japan were used in the analyses of more effective countermeasures based on the current nature of casualties in automobile accidents. The new Advanced and Integrated Traffic Accident Database (AITAD) was created based on the following two existing databases: 1) Permanent Disability Accident Database (PDAD) comprised of Automobile Liability Insurance Data (ALID) and exiting Combined Traffic Accident Database (CTAD). 2) Trauma Accident Database (TAD) comprised of the Japan Trauma Data Bank (JTDB) supported by the medical emergency hospitals and the CTAD throughout Japan. More detailed analyses regarding the relationships between permanent disabilities or specific injuries and the source of casualties in automobile accidents were performed. The analyses focused particularly on the degree of injuries to the specific human body regions where permanent disabilities occurred, and the degree of permanent disability, as well as details of injuries based on human body regions affected by the accident configurations.
