Calculation of Wide-Area Earth Surface Potential of HVDC Grounding Electrodes

2020
In order to further reduce the theoretical difficulty of wide-area earth surface potential by DC ground electrodes, a simple calculation formula of the wide-area earth surface potential is derived based on the transmission line theory. In view of the infinite integral formula of surface potential, a fast Hankel transform is proposed to transform the infinite integral formula into a sum of finite terms, which greatly reduces the complexity of the solution algorithm. In the case of large number of layers or singular parameters of the earth, This paper lists examples and compares them with the calculated results of the high-order complex image method and the grounding standard calculation software CDEGS. The simulation results show that the method proposed in this paper is consistent with the high-order complex image method, and can quickly and accurately solve the wide-area surface potential of DC grounding electrodes.
