UK Mental Health Act reform: implications for people with intellectual disabilities and autism.

Over the past 10 years, the UK National Health Service (NHS) and the UK Government have suggested substantial changes to the scope and substance of the Mental Health Act following a limited revision in 2007. The overall premise of the proposed reform was not just the modernisation of mental health legislation but, more importantly, the provision of high-quality mental health care in the least restrictive environment. 1
