A process for the preparation of temozolomide in the free base form, the method comprising: Producing Temozolomidhydrochlorid; and Converting the Temozolomidhydrochlorids in temozolomide base in an acidic medium by contacting the Temozolomidhydrochlorids with an organic acid.
