Clinical Study of Lingqia Sijun Granule Combined with Chemoth erapy in Treating Gastric Cancer

2004
Objective: To assess the clinical effect of Lingqia Sijun granule combined with chemotherapy on gastric cancer. Methods: Eighty patients were randomly divided into two gro ups: treatment group (Lingqia Sijun granule combined with chemotherapy) and cont rol group (chemotherapy). Karnofsky score, blood routine, hemorrheologic state and the immune function including NK cell activity, T lymphocyte differentiation and the serum soluble interleukin-2 receptor(SIL-2R) concentration before and after the treatment were observed. Results: Afte r the treatment the life quality, white blood cell count and the concentration o f hemoglobin in the treatment group were stable while those in the control group decreased significantly. The NK cell activity, the CD 3 and CD 4 positive T lymphocytes and the ratio of CD 4/CD 8 in the treatment group increased signif icantly. The concentration of SIL-2R and the whole blood viscosity in the treat ment group decreased. However, the NK cell activity , the CD 4 positive T lymph ocyte and the ratio of CD 4/CD 8 in the control group decreased significantly. The concentration of SIL-2R decreased and the whole blood viscosity in the con trol group did not change. Conclusion: Lingqia Sij un granule combined with chemotherapy can antagonize the side effect caused by c hemotherapy and improve the general condition of the patients. In addition, it c an improve the immune function, protect the patients from the suppression of the bone marrow caused by the chemotherapy and lower the blood viscosity.
