Outcomes of Anterior Approach in the Surgical Treatment of Lower Cervical Injury

Objective:To retrospectively analyze the clinical effect of anterior approach in the surgical treatment of lower cervical injury.Methods:A total of 36 cases treated with decompression,reduction,fusion and internal fixation through anterior approach were included in this study,the stability and fusion of the segmental injury were analyzed,and the recovery of spinal cord was determined by the Frankel grading.Results:Patients were followed up for 9 to 24 months.The implanted bones obtained solid fusion after surgery within 3 to 5 months,the situation of auto-graft bones kept well,and the nervous function were improved in the last follow-up.Conclusion:It is beneficial for the cervical function recovery and fusion of auto-graft bone by employing anterior approach procedures of decompression,reduction,fusion and plate fixation for the treatment of lower cervical injury,and it can relieve the second injury to spinal cord and contribute to neurological rehabilitation meanwhile.
