A new containment box for tritium operations

1995
Inert gas glove boxes and air boxes have been designed to contain experimental process lines for the new tritium facility at AWE, Aldermaston. These boxes provide different degrees of containment and are selected for use depending upon the amount of activity being used in the experimental equipment. The design of the basic box structure enables air boxes to be converted to an inert box by use of a modification kit and vice versa by removal of the modification kit. This paper describes the design, construction, operation and control of the boxes and the interface with the Gas Clean Up System used for removal of waste gaseous arisings. 10 refs., 3 figs.
