Analysis of combining ability and genetic parameters of early maturing maize inbred strains.

[Objective]The objective of this paper was to analyze combining ability and genetic parameters of different agronomic characters in eight early maturing maize inbred strains.[Method]The test was designed with north carolina design Ⅱ (NC Ⅱ) method,the data were processed by DPS3.0 softwares.[Result]The differences of yield per plant,kernels per ear,kernels number,ear length,ear diameter,bare tip and growth period during cross combination went up to high significant level.General combining ability (GCA) of JL02,Xinzi3113,Wu314,98-174 and OS87-24 were higher than that of other inbred strains.Total combining ability (TCA) of Xinzi4211×Wu314,JL02×Wu314,HD103×OS87-24,Xinzi3113×OS87-24,Xinzi3113×OS135-88,JL02×98-174 were higher than that of other combinations for yield per plant.It was mainly affected by the additive gene of yield per plant,growth period,ear number per row,kernels number per row,bare tip,it should be selected from the generations of early stages.[Conclusion]The lines of JLO2,Xinzi3113,Wu314,98-174,OS87-24 with the higher common combining ability can be directly used,the lines of HD103,Xinzi4211,OS135-88 with less comprehensive character could be modified before used and could be used after its apropriate improvement.
