Analysis of the tetranucleotide polymorphic HUMTH01 microsatellite

2001
Abstract The major aim of this practical class in molecular biology is to familiarize students with some common manipulations of DNA (extraction from buccal swabs, electrophoresis, etc.) and to allow them to carry out the polymerase chain reaction, on their own DNA, in order to amplify a sequence containing a tetranucleotide microsatellite (HUMTH01). This class is also providing experience in DNA finger printing by comparing the size of the sequences amplified from each student's DNA. These sequences correspond to tetranucleotide microsatellite polymorphisms.
