Butyphthalide soft capsules in combination with aspirin for preventing stroke

Objective To evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of butylphthalide soft capsules combined with aspirin for the prevention of ischemic stroke.Methods 76 patients admitted to our hospital from January 2009 to January 2010 were randomly divided to two groups,38 for Each group.Patients in both groups took aspirin 100 mg,once per day.Besides this,butylphthalide soft capsules were used in the treatment group,0.2 g,3 times per day.Before and after the one year's treatment,hemorheology were used to assess the therapeutic effect.The platelet aggregation rate (PAR) were analysed in two groups after treatment.Results 5 (13.16%) recurred in treatment group and 8 (21.05%) in the control group.and the difference was significant.PAR was lower and hemorheology was better in the treatment group than in the control group.There was statistical difference in treatment effect between these 2 groups.Conclusions Butylphthalide soft capsules combined with aspirin for the prevention of stroke has better effect than aspirin only.After this treatment,PAR will be lower and hemorheology better,fewer patients recur.It has good prevention effect and is worth popularizing clinically.
