Tackling non-adherent patients: A treatment adherence training program for clinicians

2011
Background • There is some evidence that a brief training program is effective in developing clinicians’ skills, knowledge and attitudes when dealing with non-adherence with treatments [1]. • The rates of non-adherence to any treatments range from 15% to 93%, with an average rate of 50%, with the phenomenon impacting across all health conditions, treatments and age groups [2]. Results There was a significant increase in the adherence knowledge and skills and furthermore, clinicians also reported a more positive attitude towards helping their patients.
