Rapid Molecular Identification of Tribolium destructor

Polymerase chain reaction and polymerase chain reaction restriction fragment length polymorphism(PCR-RFLP) analysis were used for discrimination of T.destructor.The results were as follows:① The specific primer of PCR can be discriminated T.destructor and other two species of Tribolium.② The rapid molecular diagnostic technique for identification of Tribolium(T.destructor;T.confusum;T.castaneum) was based on PCR-RFLP of the mitochondrial DNA(mtDNA) COI.With two pairs of primers and one restriction endonucleases(HindIII),these three species can be discriminated according to the restrictive patterns.This method could be useful in quarantine application.
