The study of a series of arsine boranes reveal that (C₆H₅)₃As is a stronger base than (C₆H₅)₂AsH and that the Lewis acidity of some boranes towards these bases decreases in the series BBr₃ > BH₃ > CH₃BBr₂ > (CH₃)₂BBr > (CH₃)₂BSCH₃. The borane adducts of (CH₃)₄As₂, (CH₃)₃SiAs(C₆H₅)₂, (CH₃)₃SiAs(CH₃)₂ and (CH₃)₃SnAs(CH₃)₂ are thermally unstable. (CH₃)₃SiAs(C₆H₅)₂ · BBr(C₆H₅)₂ yields (CH₃)₃SiBr, B(C₆H₅)₃ and [AsC₆H₅]ₙ on decomposition.
