NPSA 2020 presidential address: The making of a leader

Abstract North Pacific Surgical Association Presidential Address. This address discusses the changing aspects of leadership in both a historical and contemporary terms. Differences and overlap in leadership, mentorship and management are discussed as well as newer models of shared leadership as a means to create stronger teams and engagement. Causes of burnout and how one might create an environment that increases the well-being and satisfaction of not only those being led but also the leader are presented.
