MSCT reconstruction in diagnosis and classification of congenital heteroplasia of tracheal bronchus

Objective To investigate the value of MSCT reconstruction in diagnosis and classification of congenital heteroplasia of tracheal bronchus(TB).Methods The original and reconstructed MSCT images of 63 children with congenital heteroplasia of TB were retrospectively analyzed.Postprocessing technologies included multi-planar reconstruction(MPR),minimum intensity projection(MinIP),volume rendering(VR) and virtual bronchoscopy(VB).Results According to the relationship of origination of tracheal bronchus with normal upper lobe bronchus,TB was classified as seven types.Sixty-nine TB were found in 63 children,including 33 type Ⅰ,21 type Ⅱ,3 type Ⅲ,4 type Ⅰ with type Ⅲ and 2 type Ⅱ with type Ⅵ,while type Ⅳ,Ⅴ,Ⅶ were not found.Conclusion MSCT is the first choice in the diagnosis of congenital heteroplasia of TB.Reconstruction of trachea can display TB and it's type clearly,and can observe the complications and relationship of TB with adjacent structures.
