Incidence of Phytophagous and Predatory Mites in Cereal Crops

Investigations were made on the incidence of phytophagous and predatory mites associated with two cereal cropsnamely, Maize and Sorghum at University Agricultural Sciences, Raichur campus during 2014–15. The results revealed that the incidence of tetranychid mite population commenced during 35th standard week (0.21 mites/cm2 leaf and its peak incidence was noticed at 43rd standard week (23.12 mites/cm2 leaf) and population there after declined. Similarly, on rabi sorghum the peak activity of tetranychid mite was noticed during 11th standard week (27.44 mites/cm2 leaf).
