Separación del flujo base en ríos de Colombia mediante la aplicación de un filtro matemático con base física

2003
A physically based mathematical filter is applied for base flow separation at seven river basins in Colombia, which include: Atrato, Carare, La Vieja, Magdalena, Nechi, and Patia. The methodology is based on the mathematical filter introduced by Furey and Gupta (2001), which in turn is based upon the mass balance on a hill, requiring the estimation of four parameters, three of which are estimated from historical data of integrated basin-wide daily precipitation and streamflow. Our results indicate good enough results for base flow separation in most cases. Sources of errors regarding important assumptions of the filter, and oversimplifications such as rainfall spatial variability may explain some clousure errors.
