Effect of dopant concentration on optically stimulated luminescence properties of MgS

Optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) in MgS:Ce,Sm and MgS:Eu,Sm has been investigated. The OSL spectra for different concentrations of dopants have been recorded and compared, after exposure to UV, X- and γ-radiation at room temperature. We find that the number of maxima of the emission spectra depends on the ratio Ce:Sm, but is independent of ratio Eu:Sm. There is experimental evidence that the luminescence mechanism and charge trapping in MgS in dependent on dopant concentration.
