Stalking Antibiotic-Resistant Bacteria in Common Vegetables

2004
Bacteria are the single most common life form on the planet. A single gram of soil, for instance, contains more bacteria than there are human beings on our planet, and as the original inhabitants to evolve here, they have had over 3.5 billion years to adapt to living in nearly every possible environment available. From marine trenches a thousand meters below the ocean's waves to the linings of almost every animal's gut, bacteria are everywhere.
