VENO-VENOUS CANNULA FOR HÆMODIALYSIS
1965
SUMMARY
An indwelling veno-venous cannula is described by which numerous hemodialyses can be performed with one cannulation. The risk of infection and of thrombo-embolic phenomena has been minimal possibly because of the continuous infusion of a small amount of heparin. The cannula makes easy the taking of blood for biochemical investigation. The use of a heparin perfuser could be beneficial, as this would enable the patient to become ambulant more quickly.
