The application of gastric insufflation in naso-intestinal tube intubatton

2010
Objective:To compare the success rate of naso-intestinal tube intubatton between gastric insufflation and spiral insertion.Methods:50critical patients of ICU who would receive enteral nutrition by naso-intestinal tube were randomized to 2 groups:gastric insufflation group(n=25)and spiral insertion group(n=25).The nurses were uniform trained before intubatton. Results:The success rate of gastric insufflation group and spiral insertion group were 96%and 44%respectively.The difference was significant statistically(P0.01).Conclusion:The gastric insufflation technique is superior to the spiral insertion in bedside placement of naso-intestinal tube.
