Experiences with MOOCs in a West-African Technology Hub

Massive, Open, Online Courses (MOOCs) have been promoted as a means to revolutionize access to education. In this paper, we describe experiences with MOOCs for Liberian students who are connected to the iLab technology hub. We describe their motivations for participating as well as the challenges they encountered. We also describe the importance of the face-to-face learning environment provided by the iLab as a source of community support.
