The application of signal averaging to the NIBP oscillometric waveform

1995
This paper describes the application of Ensemble Signal Averaging (ESA) to the problem of motion artifact reduction in the oscillometric non-invasive blood pressure (NIBP) signal. The algorithm described addresses the problems of preserving the cuff pressure (CP) vs. pulse size envelope shape, dealing with the case of a long pulse delay, using limited CPU resources, and optimizing the determination cycle time.
