State feedback control of a back-to-back converter for microgrids applications

This paper presents the steps of a state feedback control design of a back-to-back (B2B) converter for microgrids applications. The system structure is presented and a mathematical model of the voltage sourced converters is developed. The current controllers, of the sending and receiving-end converters, are designed using the LQR technique. On the other hand, the DC bus voltage control is carried out by a PI controller. Digital simulations results are presented to validated the theoretical analysis and to demonstrate the performance of the converter controllers.
