PRINTED 2.45 GHZ PBG MICROSTRIP PATCH ANTENNA FOR LOW POWER ENERGY HARVESTING APPLICATION

2015
Low power energy harvesting system is one of the rectenna applications. For this application, the compact receiver antenna is needed in order to reduce the size and decrease the power losses. In this paper, A Photonic-Band-Gap (PBG) rectangular microstrip patch antenna is designed for a receiver antenna in rectenna system. It has a compact size with a combination of PBG antenna with Defected Ground Structure (DGS) Low pass Filter in the same substrate.  The compact PBG rectangular antenna is built on a low-cost FR-4 substrate with e r =4.7 and a thickness of 1.6 mm operate at 2.45 GHz which is WiFi application. The antenna is simulated by using CST microwave software and fabricated by using photolithography technique. The prototype has been measured by using vector network analyzer and the results of the proposed antenna are in good performances and steady efficiency.
