Prospective Cohort Study of Therapy of Regulating Spleen and Protecting Heart for Treatment of Angina Pectoris Induced by Coronary Artery Disease

2013
Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of the therapy of regulating spleen and protecting heart, which is founded by Professor Deng Tietao, for the treatment of angina pectoris induced by coronary artery disease(CHD-AP).Methods A prospective cohort study was carried out in the patients with CHD-AP.According to the intention-to-treat,the patients were divided into exposure group and non-exposure group, and the observation lasted one year.Non-exposure group was given routine western medical treatment, and the exposure group was given the therapy of regulating spleen and protecting heart on the basis of the treatment for the non-exposure group.During the observation period, the treatment lasted over 3 months. The effects on relieving symptoms as well as AP scores and the scores of quality of life evaluated by Seattle Angina Questionnaire(SAQ) were observed in both groups before and after treatment. Results The results of one-year observation showed that exposure group had obvious effect on relieving symptoms(P 0.05 compared with the non-exposure group),AP scores were improved in both groups(P 0.01 compared with those before treatment),and the improvement in the exposure group was superior to that in the non-exposure group(P 0.01).Except for dimensions of physical limitation(PL) and disease perception(DP) in non-exposure group, the scores of all of the other SAQ dimensions were markedly improved in both groups(P0.05),and the improvement in the exposure group was superior to that in the non-exposure group(P0.01).Conclusion The therapy of regulating spleen and protecting heart is effective on relieving symptoms, reducing the frequency of AP attack, and improving quality of life of CHD-AP patients.
