Field test on atmosphere influence depth on newly excavated expansive soil slope

To obtain the atmosphere dynamic influence process,a field monitoring system on the newly excavated expensive soil slope is established in Nanning,Guangxi. From the aspects of moisture and heat,the atmosphere influence depth is analyzed. The results show that the influence depth of water content increases with the seasonal cycle of drying-wetting progress; the change lags the heat changes; the seasonal influencing depth of heat is invariable; and the depth affected by seasonal cycle is much higher than daily influence depth. With the vegetation cover,the fluctuation of the moisture and heat field is mitigated because of its evaporation and transpiration behavior,which prevent the development of the atmosphere influence depth. It concludes that the newly excavated expansive soil slope must be protected immediately,and the weathering process can be effectively mitigated in the seeded slope.
