Comparative investigations of the phase shift distribution by interferometric phase microscopy and Fs-laser-pulses analysis on biological cells

2003
The first investigations on the metabolism of yeast cells in vivo by means of the retrieval of the phase distribution from femtosecond cross correlation measurements show a characteristic distribution of the phase shift of coherent light. The obtained phase shift distribution is compared with the phase shift distribution retrieved from a series of phase sensitive measurements carried out on a set of optically identically oriented samples by means of quantitative phase-microscopy. First comparisons show better statistic results by means of the fs-laser-pulse analysis at a considerably reduced measuring time. Consequently, this method is better suited to high throughput investigations.
