Geoelectrical surveys for groundwater in parts of karnal district, Haryana, India

1975
Abstract Results of geo-electrical surveys conducted in Rajaund—Asandh—Sirsal areas in Karnal district, Haryana are presented. A shallow groundwater trough is indicated in these parts of Karnal district and the geophysical surveys are taken up to study the groundwater conditions prevailing in the area. Significant results on the variation in the quality of groundwater are obtained. Prominent fresh water zones are demarcated in the northeastern parts of the area where a groundwater development programme can be executed effectively. The quality of water deteriorates in general towards the southwest and west, where saline and brackish-water zones prevail. Results of chemical analysis of water are studied against the data obtained from the electrical resistivity surveys.
