The Usage Behavior of Knowledge Management System in Hospitals

2012
Knowledge has been recognized as an important asset for the hospitals to gain competitive advantage. Increasing use of new technological support has elevated the opportunity for sharing and storing the knowledge within the hospitals. This study focuses on validating the research model developed by Sabrina and Matthew (2005), and its applicability in the Indian hospital context. The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of Organizational Trust (OT) within the Knowledge Management (KM) context. Furthermore, the influence of social factor, affect, perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, facilitating condition on Knowledge Sharing (KS) behavior of using systems is also examined. This study indicates that social factors also have a major influence on KS behavior along with technological factors. Thus, to encourage KS behavior among employees, hospitals should not only concentrate on technological factors, but importance should also be given to social factors.
