Influence of the structure of phosphate plasticizers on their efficiency and compatibility with polymethyl methacrylate

Abstract The plasticization of PMMA by halogen-containing phosphates has been investigated. A study was made of the influence of the structure of plasticizer molecules on their efficiency and compatibility with PMMA. As parameters of molecular structure we took the molecular dimensions, polarity, flexibility and free volume. The depences of the compatibility and efficiency of the plasticizers on structural parameters bear a complex and extremal character. A generalized scheme of the influencing of parameters of phosphate molecules on their compatibility and efficiency has been developed.
