Fracture Prediction of Thin Carbonate Reservoir Based on Wide-Azimuth Seismic Data

2018
The carbonate reservoir in the Lower Carboniferous strata in the eastern edge of Pre-Caspian basin was used for this study. The carbonate reservoir’s porosity changes quickly, dominated by fractured and corrosion hole reservoir. The fractures with high-angle approximately match the type of HTI fractures. This paper describes a process using the azimuthal seismic inversion to obtain elastic parameters such as P-impedance, Vp/Vs, and evaluate the fracture distributions of the target formation. It is better than the Ruger method. It can predict the fracture’s distributions more accurately and effectively characterize the density and orientation of fractures in the carbonate reservoirs. The prediction results are well consistent with the wells’ fracture information.
