R and D Programme in Switzerland for Future Detectors

1990
Initiated by the growing demand for intensive interactions between physics and industry in order to develop new products and technologies needed for future high energy physics detectors, a large research and development programme has been elaborated by Swiss universities (ETH Zurich and University of Geneva) and leading edge Swiss industry. In this programme all costs are shared equally by both partners, science and industry. To maximize the use of existing industrial infrastructure, physicists and engineers are delegated from their home institutes to work directly in the participating firms and thus have full access to all facilities.
