Neonatal Staphlococcal Infection. III: Epidemiologic and Demographic Follow-Up Studies in San Salvador.

STUDIES on the ecology and prevention of neonatal staphylococcal infection in a maternity hospital in San Salvador, El Salvador, have been reported previously.' A three-month follow-up study of a hospital-derived population was carried into the community to define the epidemiology of staphylococcal infection and disease, and reported.2 The present investigation determined staphylococcal carriage among infants and their mothers one year after the conclusion of these studies, and correlated new findings with those previously reported.
