2020
With the advancement of scientific knowledge about the benefits of practicing physical exercise for the human population, the number of practitioners in all age groups and populations in various clinical states or situations has been increasing. Physical activities have been widely sought by female subjects as a guarantee of longevity, maintenance of health and improvement of the quality of life. These benefits are only pronounced when physical activity is performed on a regular, continuous and lifelong basis, so it is common for women in the gestational period to remain active for better physiological adaptation and general preparation for healthy childbirth. Gestation is a phase of morphofunctional and psychoemotional adaptations for the woman. From the scientific perspective, the following guiding question was obtained: What are the adaptations inherent in the pregnant woman's organism and the main benefits of physical activity and physical exercise during this process? Therefore, the objective of this study was to review in the literature contents on the subject physical activity and gestational condition. We used as a method the revision of narrative literature consulting books and scientific articles, synthesizing results and answering questions through exploratory reading, and finally finding results and validity of the conclusions. Morphofunctional adaptations during gestation, the benefits of physical activity and physical exercise, as well as the main recommendations and care in the prescription and supervision of physical conditioning programs for women living in this phase of life were described.
