Confinement and food-related behaviors: What are the changes in sustainable food consumption? [Confinement et comportements alimentaires : Quelles évolutions en matière d’alimentation durable ?]

The 1st phase of 2020 confinement seems to have lead French consumers to reflect on their way of life and their daily practices. Through the lens of the immersion process, this research aims to study the impact of the lock-down on sustainable food practices. Three sets of data were collected over the period, allowing to analyze the profiles of change in food habits. Results show that confinement has led to more sustainable food consumption for 30% of the respondents, mainly due to an increase of local and seasonal product purchases.
