The invention discloses a carpet. The carpet comprises a plastic layer and a bottom felt layer, wherein a material of the plastic layer comprises a mixture of polypropylene and ethylene-propylene-diene rubber. The invention also provides a preparation method of the carpet. The preparation method comprises the following steps: melting for mixing the polypropylene and the ethylene-propylene-diene rubber to form the melting mixture; extruding the melting mixture on the bottom felt layer; cooling to form the flake-like carpet. The preparation method of the carpet is simple. The carpet has the advantages that the cleaning with water is easy, the smell is qualified, and the emission rate of poisonous substances is low.
