Interference Test Analysis Using a Pressure Derivative Method for Homogeneous Oil and Gas Flow from a Reservoir

2003
Abstract This study attempts to use interference test analysis of El-Khatib's (1987) pressure derivative method for homogenous two-phase oil-gas flow in a reservoir. El-Khatib uses a pressure derivative that is derived from the line source solution of the single-phase diffusivity equation and shows that a plot of log tp' vs. 1/t* would yield a straight line. Its intercept to the ordinate would then be used to estimate the absolute permeability. This paper uses El-Khatib's method to analyze a set of model-generated pressure. The use of pseudo pressure is also studied. Sensitivity analysis of oil formation volume factor, oil viscosity, and permeability yield that use of bottom hole and pressure data are more accurate for a range of 10-30 mD, and the use of pseudo pressure yields better accuracy for permeability range of 30-100 mD.
