The likely influence of casting velocity, mold geometry and depth of immersion of the SEN, internal geometry and inclination of the ports of the SEN on the stability of the steel flow in the mold of a continuous casting machine have been assessed through mathematical and physical modeling. Experimental data obtained through physical modeling are grouped by means of the F parameter, defined from the values of casting speed, the depth of the impact point of the steel jet against the narrow face and angle of the steel jet. Numerical simulations allow to estimate the subsurface velocity for the test conditions used in the model. The results of physical and mathematical modeling allow the identification of the ideal casting conditions for two nozzle configurations.
