Herpes gestationis and repeated abortions.

1973
A woman 28 years old with herpes gestationis a rare dermatologic disorder of pregnancy associated perhaps 30% of the time with spontaneous abortion was seen at Goa Medical College in Panaji Goa in 1972. An unusual involvement of the mucous membrane was noted. The uterus was 20 weeks size. She had had 1 full-term normal delivery and then 2 successive spontaneous abortions. When administered 15 mg/day of prednisolone in a divided dosage her lesions healed in 2 weeks. The infant delivered about 3 months prematurely survived for 42 hours. The etiology of herpes gestationis is uncertain.
