HUBUNGAN ANTARA PENGGUNAAN MASKER DENGAN KELAINAN KULIT PADA TENAGA KESEHATAN DI ERA PANDEMI COVID-19

Background: The use of mask is one way to prevent the spread of COVID-19 especially in health service facilities. Prolonged use of masks can cause skin disease. The factors that may affect the incidence of skin disease are the type of mask, changing mask frequency and duration of using mask. The purpose of this study is to determine the relation between the using masks with skin disease among health-care workers in the era of the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: This study is an analytical observational study with a cross-sectional study design which was conducted from July to December 2020. The research samples were all health-care workers at Puskesmas 4 Ulu, Puskesmas Sukarami and Puskesmas Merdeka in Palembang, all of who fullfilled the inclusion and exclusion criteria using the consecutive sampling technique. Data was collected using a questionnaire and processed using SPSS. Results: There were 90 samples and 72 samples met the inclusion criteria. The sample consisted of doctors (11.1%), midwives (27.8%), nurses (22.2%), administrative staff and health promotion staff (29.2%), pharmacy (4.2%). Most of the samples were use medical mask (94,4%). The results showed that 14 samples had skin disease (19,4%). Skin disease consist of erytema (15,3%), papule (6,9%), desquamation (4,2%), fissure (1,4%), erosion (1,4%), vesicle (1,4%) dan urtica (1,4%).Samples who used medical masks had more skin disease (p = 0.796). Samples with 1 times frequency of changing masks had more skin disease (p = 0.942). Samples with a duration of using masks < 4 hours had more skin disease (p = 0.449). Conclusion: There is no relation between the use of masks (type of mask, frequency of changing masks and duration of use of masks) and skin disorders.
