Children with Trisomy 21 (Down syndrome) are a typical example of clients with global developmental disorders with sometimes astonishing capabilities, yet significant disabilities and many possible complications that require long-term care. This is also valid for an increasing number of clients whose developmental disorder has a genetic origin, e.g. Fra-X-syndrome and Rett-syndrome.
