A fundamental research report on the treatment about phlebeurysma of lower limbs with holmium laser

Objective: To research the mechanism of treatment for the phlebeurysma lower limbs with holmium laser. Methods:(1)Colour Doppler supersonic monitoring was carried out on the patients treated for phlebeurysma lower limbs with holmium laser. (2)Experiments were conducted on greater saphenous vein in vitro; The effects of different media in greater saphenous vein were compared when holmium laser was affecting the blood vessel wall.(3)Pathological examinations were conducted on the greater saphenous vein section after treating the living body. (4)Contrast and analysis of D-dimer and hemaleucin original value in blood were made before and after operation. Results: (1)There was substantive echo in greater saphenous vein soon after the treatment. The substantive echo became strong when reexamined. The bore size became smaller in some ways. And there was no sign of blood flow in the cavity. (2)Pathological mechanism showed that the bast in greater saphenous vein disappeared after being treated by holmium laser. The inner, middle and outer membranes all denaturated or necrosed in some ways. (3)Different media in blood vessel affected the effect of holmium laser on blood vessel wall directly.(4)There was a remarkable difference in D-dimer (P0.01) and hemaleucin original value (P0.05) in blood before and after the operation. Conclusion: Holmium laser can lead to thrombosis in greater saphenous vein .With destroying the normal structure of blood vessel wall, it causes the damaged vein wall to become thicker and contract. Thus the bore size becomes narrower. At last the vein is shutting. Blood is the necessary medium when holmium laser is affecting the blood vessel wall. Blood congeals quicker after operation.
