Compact LTE/WWAN Monopole Antenna with a Band-Stop Matching Circuit for Mobile Phone

A compact LTE/WWAN monopole antenna for mobile phone is proposed. The designed antenna comprises of a driven strip, a shorting strip and a band-stop matching circuit. The antenna's lower band is contributed by the fundamental resonant mode of the shorting strip and resonance generated by the matching circuit. The generation of the upper band is owing to the resonant mode generated by the driven strip and higher resonant mode of the shorting strip. The measured -6 dB impedance bandwidth of the proposed antenna ranges from 682 to 995 MHz and from 1664 to 2851 MHz, covering ten commonly used wireless communication frequency bands of GSM850/900, DCS1800, PCS1900, UMTS2100, LTE700/2300/2500, 2.4-GHz WLAN and 2.5-GHz WiMAX. Good radiation performances are achieved over the operating bands.
