Allelopathic effects of Eupatorium adenophorum Spreng on Euphorbia esula L.

2011
[Objective]The present experiment was conducted to study the allelopathic effects of Eupatorium adenophorum on Euphorbia esula L.in order to control the spread of Euphorbia esula L.,and lay a foundation for the development and utilization of the new type agricultural chemicals simulating pesticide of the Eupatorium adenophorum Spreng.[Method]The water extracts of Eupatorium adenophorum Spreng was used to treat Euphorbia esula L.seeds in petri dishes using filter paper method. The germination rate and seedling growth of Euphorbia esula L.were investigated.[Result]Water extracts of Eupatorium adenophorum Spreng showed significant inhibitory effect on the germination and seedling growth of Euphorbia esula L.Water extract of Eupatorium adenophorum Spreng inhibited Euphorbia esula L.by inhibiting the growth of radicle and embryo. The inhibitory effects were more pronounced on the radicle compared to embryo.[Conclusion]The seed germination and seedling growth of Euphorbia esula L.were significantly influenced by water extracts of Eupatorium adenophorum Spreng. It needs to further evaluate the biological control properties of Eupatorium adenophorum Spreng.
